A Social Marketing Whirlwind
In November and December of 2010, Central Florida Educators Federal Credit Union ($1.1 billion; 116,372 members; Lake Mary, FL) ran a CU Web Hunt campaign with a new twist – one of the game pieces was hidden inside their Facebook fanpage in such a way that it could only be found by 'liking' CFE FCU. The intention was to give members an incentive to visit the credit union's Facebook page and clicking the 'like' button, which then automatically tells all their friends and family members that they like CFE FCU!
This was the first time we had expanded the Web Hunt system into Facebook so we weren't sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that CFE TRIPLED their Facebook fans as a result of their CU Web Hunt campaign. This wasn't any small feat, because CFE already had close to 1,000 Facebook fans to start with. Now they have several thousand more, and still growing.
